Sometime, early this year, I embarked on a small trip to Matobo Hills with my long time best friend. For me, this was a much needed trip to relax, unwind and disconnect from everyday life to deeply reconnect with the best version of myself.
Matobo is located near the second largest city, Bulawayo, southern Zimbabwe. It is well known in the world for its majestic scenery and rock formations. It was also declared a World Heritage Site in 2003. I would recommend this place for anyone looking to experience an amazing scenery, lovely rock art and a peaceful setting.
Rock Climbing
Rock climbing was the most fulfilling activity for me, being able to climb a gigantic rock in a hot weather for half an hour was more than just fun even though it seemed it took forever for me to get up there, haha.
The most terrible mistake we made though was not taking enough water along with us because it can get thirsty up there, haha. Another mistake I made was not wearing comfortable shoes such that when I got up there I was already barefooted!
Thank heavens! we found a little pond in the midst of our climb which helped us cool off a bit, it was so refreshing taking a breather for a few minutes for selfies and just playing with water!
The peaceful dam
Fishing activities are also done in this beautiful, peaceful dam.
The Shoe Rock
This shoe-shaped like rock was my highlight of the day. It provided us with an amazing shade to relax after a long climb in an extremely hot weather. It was so refreshing, peaceful and relaxing.
I can’t wait to visit this place again to explore the other parts I didn’t manage to due to strict lockdown restrictions. This was an experience of a lifetime!
Beautiful photos!

Adventure is fun and learning. Rock climbing is hard in such such areas where you have not much drinking water. The pictures are really nice. Enjoy your life…😃

Thank you for sharing your amazing experiences and for also being vulnerable enough to share your mistakes 🙂. I will take enough water and glucose with me anytime I’m going for a mountain climbing adventure 😃
The photos are beautiful, and you are amazingly alluring.
Stay safe and be blessed.
